FAQ - What is generally to be paid attention to when updating the current ELOoffice-Sytems on ELOoffice 8.0 and 9.0?
The following points are to be observed:
- Make a data backup (Archive data and Postbox directories and optionally directories where ELOoffice archives data in accordance with the "System Settings and Document paths") so that data, database entries and relevant files can be secured at the same time.
- The user "Administrator" must exist and a password must be given.
- The option "Enter ELO without login" (Configuration, index card General) should be deactivated.
- The Windows user, who makes the update, must have at least local administrative rights. Pay attention to the system operations security settings (firewall, etc).
- Provided there is no risk, we strongly advise you to temporarily disconnect your Internet during the time of your installation, otherwise an automatic Internet connection start could occur! Deactivate your anti virus scanner before starting the ELO installation, the anti virus scanner could intervene and cause problems during the installation. After the installation has been completed, you can reactivate the anti virus scanner once again. Note specific settings by the anti virus scanner are necessary to pay attention to.
- After the installation of the update has been successfully finished, you are logged in as the "Administrator", so that necessary database extensions can be made.
- For all 32-bit versions from ELOoffice which are older than version 6.0 (4.0, 4.5 and 5.0): After the installation, start the fulltext index new (System Settings - Options - Searching - "Add to Fulltext database"), before you start to add documents in the fulltext database.
- A deinstallation from an old ELOoffice version is not necessary, you can easily "install over" it. An Export/Import of the data is not required here.
- A "mixed" operating system of ELOoffice is absolutely not possible. Please note, that a database which has been uniquely opened with ELOoffice 8.0 or ELOoffice 9.0 can not be opened with the previous operating versions anymore.
- In the versions 4x to 5.0 the used separator ¿ has been changed and is now the ¶ character, callable by pressing the Alt + 0182 key. Unfortunately an automatic replacement during the installation is not possible; you must do this manually. In scripts, the term EloLookup.Delimiter is recommended for usage, instead of ¿ or ¶ character.
- The keyword lists have been used in the database since ELOoffice 7.0. Therefore you must import your existing general keyword list ("Stichwort.txt" - in the Postbox directory) by clicking in ELOoffice under "System Settings - Keyword list - Global keyword list... - click on the button "Import" and the following file options (confirm with OK). Pay attention, in doing so, that you must change your file type options from the "List and text files". The list must be run in every archive you plan on using it. Specified keyword lists (with the Nomenklartur GRUPPENNAME.SWL, also in the case of the group "London" the file LONDON.SWL) are in the keywording form management for the respective group to be imported (System setting - keywording forms, there the keywording form should be selected, as soon as, the definition is shown with the button "Keyword list" and then click on it).
